A novel about October 7th and Jewish resilience

My family together in our bomb shelter.

My life will never be the same after October 7, 2023.

My family is probably the luckiest one in Israel. We didn’t have terrorists knocking on our door, we didn’t lose any loved ones at Nova, the kibbutzim, or in the army. And my husband wasn’t called up for reserve duty. But still, October 7th changed me.

I’ll never forget the moment it started. I was brushing my teeth. A year later, I can’t brush my teeth without feeling anxiety. It’s almost like I have PTSD, but we aren’t yet post the trauma.

Writing has helped me process my trauma. And I want to contribute something to my amazing country. So I decided to use my talents as a storyteller and writer to tell the world what happened on that horrible day and after.

The publishing industry wants to pretend October 7th didn’t happen.

You may have heard that publishers are afraid of publishing Jewish works right now because of antisemitism and it’s sadly true.

I tried to get this book published by traditional publishers. I was told the book’s manuscript was “engaging” and “well-written,” but “not sellable in the current market.”

What does that mean? It’s code for antisemitism. Publishers are afraid of backlash for publishing Jewish books.

I will not let that silence me. I will do everything I can to get this message out and tell the world what happened here.

Will you help me?

We Will Dance Again

October 7th, 2023, Israel: the day the world changed.

When the sirens started at 6:29 am, Tehila was packing a picnic for her family in their southern Kibbutz home and Dana was celebrating love with her boyfriend at an outdoor rave.

Shai, a former counter-terrorist soldier jumps to action to protect his country for his young son; while politician and the army’s former chief of staff Alon wants to lend his expertise.

In Gaza, Aisha is taken by surprise, but she hopes for better days and will do anything for the return of her twins who were wrongfully arrested by the Israeli army.

Across the globe, Ethan, a Harvard freshman, wakes up and is unsure what to think of the situation until he feels personally targeted on campus.

Inspired by true events, We Will Dance Again tells the story of how an entire nation was changed in an instant. It is the story of loss, resilience, and the unbreakable spirit of hope.
